Strategically expanding in the Sub-Saharan Africa

Since establishing a Joint Venture in 2017, PalletBiz South Africa has been strategically expanding within the Southern African Development Community (SADC). In line with this growth, PalletBiz Franchising Zrt., headquartered in Hungary, has invested in a rural sawmill and relocated operations from Bronkhorstspruit to Sabie, Mpumalanga. This strategic move has garnered strong support from key stakeholders, including SAFCOL, the Office of the MEC (Mpumalanga), and the Local and District Municipality Authorities.

Facility Details

The newly relocated Sabie facility spans a 6.8-hectare site, with 3.5 hectares currently operational. The site houses two large workshops that provide significant under-roof space for both production and storage of raw materials and finished goods.

PalletBiz’s future plans for the Sabie facility include installing a complete sawmill, a furnace-boiler combination, and three 250m³ advanced drying ovens, which will enhance the production capabilities to meet growing demand for high-quality wooden packaging products.

The product mix

The Sabie facility specializes in producing a diverse range of wooden pallets along with processed timber from the WOS (Wood of Sub-Saharan Africa) category. Looking ahead, PalletBiz South Africa plans to further expand its services to include additional timber processing, focusing on kiln-dried products for higher quality and durability.

PalletBiz’s sawmill project in Sabie is supported by key stakeholders such as SAFCOL, the Office of the MEC (Mpumalanga), and local authorities, making it a strategic initiative for the region. PalletBiz Romania, our first franchisee, recently opened its brand new production plant in Prejmer Industrial Park as a part of significant production capacity expansion plan of PalletBiz. This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and was implemented with the support of the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020, Priority Axis 2: improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.
